the sessions retro poster Very sweet, poignant little dramedy that didn’t get nearly enough attention and praise during the award season that’s drawing to a close. With a marvelous script by Ben Lewin (based on Mark O’Brien’s article), The Sessions is the touching tale of a man’s plight to experience a new facet of life before it is too late. You’re constantly rooting for Mark (John Hawkes) and how couldn’t you? With funny, self-deprecating dialog and an excellent performance by Hawkes, Mark O’Brien is one of the finest characters in 2012 cinema. Great support from a talented cast that includes Helen Hunt (in an incredible comeback role), William H. Macy, Moon Bloodgood and Annika Marks.

My review is coming out next week, we’re totally on the same page. Great film, funny and the frontal nudity was completely unexpected. Nice review!

I was expecting nudity, as I’d read that Helen Hunt bared all for the role but I thought they showed it in a tasteful manner. Helen Hunt looks great, though.
